BULLSSPRING 2007 We have directed our program toward producing high quality bulls for both the breeder of registered cattle and the commercial cowman. We develop our own bulls here on the farm. We believe we can market bulls that have fewer health problems by feeding for good but not maximum growth. Most of our bulls will weigh 1000 to 1200 Lb. at 12 months of age without being excessively fat or developing foot and leg problems. Bulls are maintained in grassy lots, are hand fed and have free access to hay at all times. We handle bulls without hotshots or similar aids. I work and walk among them every day and with rare exceptions they are very gentle. They range from about 14 to 20 months or more of age. The older bulls are ready to use on mature cows as well as heifers and can service more cows in a season than a yearling could. Compared to yearlings, they are also better able to maintain their condition during their first breeding season. The younger bulls can service about 15 cows and heifers which may be sufficient in many cases. Listed below are our older bulls; long yearlings will be added soon. Older bulls are priced somewhat higher to reflect our added costs. All of our bulls sell directly off the farm. We do not put the top bulls in auctions and sell the remainder by private treaty. Bulls currently for sale are shown in the chart below. These bulls are Low birth weight and high growth rate with good to excellent carcass values. Yellow background in bull tattoo column indicates calving ease. All bulls will be fertility tested, have been vaccinated and boosted, and twice treated with Ivermectin. Click on the registration number to go to the American Angus Association data base for complete pedigree and performance information on each bull. On the angus web page that opens, simply click the search button. Click on the "Bull Photos" icon at the top of this page to see pictures. The links should work and additional information on the bulls will be added as soon as possible.
Some of the Spring 2007 bulls will be reaching 15 months of age in may and will be offered if you are interested. We recommend birth a weight EPD of 2.5 or less for heifers bred at about 15 months of age. Click here to send e-mail. |
